My work presents an array of objects in arrangements that provide space for examining the tangible and heightening concrete experience. We live lives seemingly split between worlds--analog and digital, work and home, wake and sleep. To reflect the tension caused by this dislocation I create objects that appear at once novel and familiar using material, shape, scale, color, and installation.

Ryan Akers (b. Austin, TX 1981) is an artist working in Tuscaloosa, AL where he teaches drawing at The University of Alabama. His studio practice employs a variety of formal elements and materials to create uncanny objects that straddle the line between drawing, painting, and sculpture.
