How do we manage what we lose and what we find in life? How do our memories or the memories of our ancestors sustain and define us? How do places and the memories of places contribute to our understanding of who we are? My work explores the intersection of these questions because I have found that they are central to my identity. For this series entitled Lost and Found, I mined the memories of my parents’ memories to find meaning both personal and transcendent.

Jennifer McCohnell is originally from a small town in Georgia and the experiences growing up there in the 1970s inform her work. Currently, she lives and works in Dothan, Alabama.
