Always my mind is racing, seeking what lovely thing I can draw next. The need to create wakes me in the middle of the night, forcing me out of bed and into my studio. Little visions in half-wakefulness make it into my drawings; my last trip abroad becomes a painting; my friend’s beautiful face is in graphite. In the world around me there a multitude of things are begging to be put on paper. Every day I’m grateful for the desire and ability to do just that.

Sarah grew up in Augusta, GA, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Augusta State University in 2001. Her passion has always been drawing. Lately she is pushing cross-hatching to greater heights and experimenting with how to convey motion and engagement. Her compositions favor surreal, odd, out of place, sometimes playful, and occasionally disturbing imagery. She currently lives and works near Newnan, where she divides her time between her art, family, and work as an oncology registered nurse.Sarah’s art has been featured at a handful of solo exhibitions such as the Lagrange Art Museum (2015), the Nixon Centre for the Performing Arts (2016) and the University of South Carolina (2016). She has been fortunate to show her work in juried exhibitions such as the Southeastern Regional Art Exhibit in 2020 (pre-pandemic!) and 2022, the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and the Alpharetta Arts Center, both in 2021. She has taken part in joint exhibits at the Cochran Gallery (2011) and the Lagrange Art Museum where she won best of show in 2018, 2019, and 2021. She has also curated several exhibits at The Suffering Artist, a small-town gallery she owns with her husband.
