His long term project is focused on documenting small town life in Southwest GA and the Florida Panhandle. He is particularly interested in recording the everyday life of the region's residents, many of whom have been traditionally marginalized. His Field & Forest series documents migrant workers from Mexico, Central America, and Haiti working in Gadsden County, FL.

Jimmy Nicholson is a self-taught photographer originally from Bainbridge, GA. His formal training consists of a single photography class where he learned the basics of processing film and prints in a wet darkroom. In the late 1970's , he had the good fortune to be mentored by Paul Kwilecki for three years. This relationship changed Nicholson's worldview and opened his eyes to the power of documentary photography. Nicholson works exclusively in black & white using small and medium format film cameras. He processes his film and prints in a traditional wet darkroom.
