Does silicon-based life exist in the universe? If so, could it perceive its environment? Could patterns, colors, and forms be a part of its language? We sent a Golden Record into interstellar space on Voyager as a legacy should it ever encounter anything that could appreciate a constructed object and understand its significance. My work tries to capture communicative qualities in clay (silicon). If my work can bring light, love, and joy to us carbon-based life forms in the meantime, so much the better.

My pieces are thrown on a wheel using stoneware clay. I enjoy doing both raku and atmospheric firings. In raku, I use traditional firing techniques, such as smoking and reduction. My raku work contains original decorations and artistic designs. I creatively craft unique pieces that I hope will connect with each individual observer on a personal level. I have been creating pottery for the last 20 years and plan to continue to create for the foreseeable future.
