I have been involved in the creation of visual art my entire life, and have published extensively on art criticism and aesthetics.
My current work focuses on aesthetics in the traditional since, the study of Beauty, with a capital “B,” which no one really believes in anymore.

Typically, a painting will take me weeks, or sometimes months to finish. I use a rather slow and meticulous technique, though much of it is improvised. Because of this, I choose my subject matter very carefully, and try to avoid any prevailing trends that might date the work.

Currently I am the owner of Stephen Smith Fine Art in Fairfield, Alabama.
