I make my work out of mixed materials such as silk, tea and porcelain to address the hybridity in my culture. These materials played roles in the history of British colonization, which is a part of who I am, given that I was born and raised in Hong Kong. The composition of the work is generated from a Chinese input method called Sucheng, in which each Chinese character is paired with an alphabet, to address the idea of code-switching. Making these hybrid objects within this system is my way to create a visual manifestation of the hybridity in my culture.
