My current works are abstract and pigment rich color studies made from small paper magazine clippings that are then adhered in a puzzle like fashion with absolutely no overlapping to cradled wood boards. This creates a consistent, and flat matte color effusion that dissipates paper edges and tricks the eye into optical illusion like effects.
The work is largely meditative in nature. They are my response to living in this complicated
world. When making these pieces I try not to anticipate my next move or the piece as a whole, instead slowing choosing one remnant at a time. This is an action in focusing on the “present.” They are my daily reminder that there is beauty in this world, amongst all this everyday ugly. Self reflection, momentary living, and color appreciation are my getaway from our current chronic depressive geo-political, pandemic world state. It is my intention to give my viewers a breath of fresh air and temporary escape from what has become our often so scary everyday.
